Lane 8 – “Fingerprint”
Yesterday, Lane 8 announced the beginnings of a new project and label known as This Never Happened (pictured above). The concept behind the project is curate a space that is free from distractions (i.e. phones, cameras, electronics, photos, documentation) and all about experiencing the moment, vibrations, soundwaves and energy surging through the venue and the people. Here’s a short snippet of his write up and inspiration behind the project (catch the full write-up on Facebook):
“The possibilities of technology are endless, but they also limit the possibility…the possibility to truly experience and submit to the moment.
For me, going to a club has always been about letting go of the world around me, like a vacation from the nagging realities of everyday life. In the best clubs I have been to, the people were united by a desire to experience electronic music in the purest sense; to get lost in its tension and release.”
And honestly his music has always stirred up those feelings for us. So it’s fitting that he should start this new night, This Never Happened, where the space is phone and photo-free and it’s all about the music. The first show to kick off the event series will be in his hometown of San Francisco on June 3rd at the Mezzanine. Below you can catch the newly founded label’s first release. A track called “Fingerprint” that completely encapsulates the feeling he wants coursing through the club on that night.
