Tesla Boy – “Avoid”
Tesla Boy caught our eye years ago for their stylish, retro-tinged pop. The Russian boys were apparently struck with inspiration for their latest track “Avoid” while in NYC as they tell Clash:
“Avoid’ is a brisk, buoyant cut, just right for escaping those January, Inauguration-style blues. Tesla Boy’s Anton: “The name of this song came to mind while walking around Manhattan. This word came along with the line ‘You can’t avoid me’. And I thought it could be used one day. The idea of this song is that people often fool themselves by pretending that they are not bothered and don’t care about the past. But in fact, somewhere deep down, they know that something else is catching them and holding them still. And this song is exactly about that.”
And if there’s something we’ve learned in life, is that Anton is exactly right. This charming synth pop cut is drenched in heart-tugging melancholia with an uplifting touch. Don’t pass this one up. Enjoy.
