Roman Flügel – “SEKOIA Podcast #025”
Subtly engrossing over its sixty-two minutes, this SEKOIA podcast from Berlin’s Roman Flügel has had us hooked since its release last week. True to his organic style, the mix opens with a naturalistic soundscape. Panning synths and warm bass evoke restless summer energy, ebbing and flowing above gentle yet propulsive drums. At first Flügel seems content to explore minute vocal samples and muted synths, the pattering bassline merely wandering the subdued sonic landscape. Not so: nine minutes in, he deftly flips the mix into pure, breezy club territory that doesn’t let up for the next fifty minutes. Light on vocals, perfect for both club and home listening, this heady set has us excited for future releases from the legendary house producer.
