Mr Twin Sister – “In the House of Yes”
When earlier this year Twin Sister announced they had changed their name to Mr Twin Sister, they simultaneously released “Out of the Dark,” an icy blend of slippery disco and indie rock that departed massively from the blissed-out dreampop aesthetic they had cultivated for one excellent album and several EPs. In affirmation to the strength of their new direction, Mr Twin Sister have released “In the House of Yes,” a glimmering take on downtempo, throwback disco, and electronica. Andrea Estella’s breathy vocals will appeal to fans of Twin Sister’s chillwave leanings, while the shimmering guitar swaths of yore have been converted to orchestral disco strings. Most impressively, this song assures us that even though Mr Twin Sister have changed hats, it’s not a bad look on them.
