Marcus Marr – “Familiar Five”
Marcus Marr and the DFA Records crew are at it again with a promising new EP coming at you this February. And they’ve shared the title track called “Familiar Five” channeling some really cool occult influences along with a deeper, darker groove. The track starts off menacing and eerie, but ultimately gains a confident and unabashed groove that is a call to all the nighttime revelers. He even takes it a step further and adds his vocals to give it that extra oomph. There’s a certain sex appeal to it that is irresistible. Here’s what he had to say about the track to the folks over at Clash:
“We’re all freaks to a certain extent… You might have something wrong with you in society’s eyes, they might say you don’t fit in, but that doesn’t mean that you should be afraid or shy or hide away because of that. In fact, you can use it to your advantage. It can be an advantage to be a freak.”
