Lorca – “Calcutec/Ndlamu”
The formidable Naked Naked imprint dropped a tech heavy dream on Monday. It is known as the ‘Calcutec/Ndlamu’ EP and it comes from the rising production wiz, Lorca. This Brighton based artist is setting our speaker ablaze with this searing three track release. The first of the three is called “Calcutec” and, like the name suggests, it delivers a calculated and carefully handled loop of tech infused house. The beat travels in an oscillating motion and surprisingly doesn’t get annoyingly repetitive.
Up next is our favorite out of the three, “Ndlamu,” which delivers a richly percussive treat that delves into African dance inspired territory. The tribal drum elements leave little to be desired on the dance floor. Drop this gem into the mix and watch as everyone loses it. The last treat on the release is the alternative mix for “Ndlamu” that strips back some of the drums and brings a solid electronic melody worthy of peak hour play.
