Kindness – “Who Do You Love feat. Robyn (Joakim Remix)”
The last two years have brought out some exciting new musicians to the foreground. One of them being Adam Bainbridge, a.k.a Kindness. His organic blend of pop, jazz and R&B has garnered him plenty of attention over the last couple of years. His sophomore album dropped back in October with 10 fresh and inspired tracks. The amount of thought and chaos that goes into his music is exactly what keeps people interested and coming back for more.
There is one track on the album that got a lot of attention, the second single “Who Do You Love” that features familiar and flawless vocals from Robyn. The original is an airy and sporadic ride with hypnotic organs, resounding synths and heavy bassline. The melody hints towards fluidity, but resides in a broken down, stop and go composition that is both charming and revelatory. It definitely accomplishes one of his goals:
“Part of the challenge is making difficult things listenable to an audience that doesn’t necessarily want to listen to difficult things.” (Interview Magazine)
Below you can find the very first remix to come from the album for the track in question. It comes from Joakim who adds an extra bit of oomph with a solid club cut.
