Jolly Mare – “Giu”
A few days ago we happened to stumble onto this awesome track titled “Giu” by Italian DJ and producer Jolly Mare. Something in this track peaked our interest from the first time we took it for a spin-perhaps it’s the oh-so-cool jazz/funk edge to this slow burning groove, or maybe it’s the retro guitar and synths tied to his influences, or it could be the fact that we can listen to this track anytime and feel refreshed by the time it’s over -whatever the case, we can’t seem to get it out of our heads. It has a slinky sex appeal that creeps up on you and before you know it you catch yourself swaying and smiling.

“As the old adage goes, “What is a DJ if he can’t scratch?” Italy’s JOLLY MARE is forging a new answer to this eternal question, with the help of his PhD in Vibration Dynamics, his trusty turntables, and enhancements provided by the capabilities of modern software. His turntablist skills and endless bedroom practicing led him to win the 2010 IDA DJ Championships, and crate digging is truly a daily operation for this self-confessed vinyl addict. In recent years he has moved into the realm of production, creating slow boogie jams that emanate soulful, scientific authenticity.”
