Gil Scott Heron – “Winter In America (Moullinex Edit)”
After the results of this past election a lot of us were feeling down and turning to music in times of need is a natural instinct for most of us. Gil Scott Heron and Brian Jackson had a beautiful working relationship that brought out some of the most compelling and poignant music of the 70s. They had a way of cleverly commenting on the social and political issues of the time. “Winter In America” was not only a great song but also a great album that highlighted the troubles of the time while also leaving you with a sense of hope. Moullinex decided to tap into the power of this song with his own edit and also manages to remind us that things can get better. House meets the blues, jazz and soul of Gil and Brian. Turn the volume all the way up, sit back, hit play, rinse and repeat.
A few words from Moullinex about the edit:
“Some weeks back, motivated by Mr Trump’s evil-lord victory, I made an edit to include on the mixtape I was gonna record that day:
Moullinex-mixtapes – Inneedoflovemixtape
Since then I have had many requests to have it released, so I put it up here for you to enjoy and play out. May Gil’s music help us make a better world.”
