Eli & Fur – “Something Was Real”
The second single from Eli & Fur‘s ‘Night Blooming Jasmine’ EP has arrived! Following on the heels of the title track that premiered back in May we have this slow burning gem called “Something Was Real.” Warm and somber percussion leads the intro as chugging basslines roll along providing the perfect framework for the duo’s reflective lyrics. When the EP was announced by Anjunadeep, the duo mentioned that they wanted to marry their songwriting roots with the deep melodic textures of the dance floor that they’ve picked up on the road. And we’d say that they definitely succeeded. Here’s a bit about what inspired the track:
“I was walking home from a party that had gotten a bit out of control, my phone died and I’d left alone. My brain was in overdrive, the sun was rising and I was playing things over and over in my mind. Trying to decide whether or not to walk away from something, sometimes the not knowing can drive you crazy.”
