Applebottom – “The Ride EP”

Applebottom

Last time we heard one of Applebottom‘s tracks it was towards the beginning when he first broke onto the scene. Somehow he managed to slip under our radar for these last few months, which is unfortunate considering the evolution in his sound on this new EP. He teamed up with Kidnap Kid’s imprint Birds That Fly to drop ‘The Ride’ EP and what a ‘ride’ it is! First up is that spectacular title track with a killer jazzy piano medley riding on a poignant and persistent bass treatment. It’s dynamic and so, so interesting to the ear that we can’t take our hands off the repeat button. The B-side is called “Frustrate” which comes with a playful and layered groove that plays around with the formula of build followed by drop by breaking up the monotony and churning out a deeply textured burner. This is definitely one of Applebottom’s finest works to date. Grab the EP here.
