Andy Stott – “Faith in Strangers”

Andy Stott

One of the foremost purveyors of dark, bludgeoning electronic music, Andy Stott has made an international name for dealing in colorless minimal/dub/experimental/shapeshifting techno. Today he released the gorgeous title track in anticipation of his upcoming album for Modern Love, and our faith in Stott’s perennial ability to recast himself as he sees fit has been reaffirmed. “Faith in Strangers” departs greatly from the abrasive, monolithic soundscapes of his past and instead pursues the brighter corners previously hinted at on Luxury Problems‘ “Numb.” It reads a melancholic yet peaceful take on love and relationships, broadening the themes of loneliness and privacy established in his previous work. This track has us hooked and eagerly anticipating the album’s November 17 release.
