An Expresso – “Movin’ On Up EP” [NEWBODY RECORDS]
Take this moment to prepare yourselves for multiple eargasms because this EP is really doing us right. It hails from right here in sunny L.A from the newly established imprint that goes by the name NEWBODY RECORDS. The founder is none-other-than Jonathan Roshad, a.k.a the DJ and producer that is more commonly known as Newbody. Here is what we can expect to hear from the label:
“NEWBODY RECORDS is a new Los Angeles based urban dance label with a focus on warm soulful vibes, spanning from classic minded house music to new explorations in Two-Step Garage.”
And for their debut release the imprint has tapped into some rising local talent known simply as An Expresso. Right from the beginning we are hit with a sexy, funk-heavy garage laced title track with a cool shuffle groove perfect for any dance floor. And with those warm piano arpeggios, this track just melts in your ear. Next up is a remix from the label boss who provides a groovy tech house track that keeps the fire from the original alive with lush layered synths and in-your-face bass stabs.
On the B-side is an irresistible retro tinged banger titled “I Wish A Muthafucka Would.” A definite a standout in our ears. The chord progression weaves in and out as strong layered percussion lays down the foundation. And finally rounding out the EP is a remix from Groove Riddim, who messes with the arrangement and tempo and creates a saucy UK bass gem. Keep an ear out for the release on September 2nd!
