Royksopp – “Sordid Affair (Maceo Plex Remix)”
When Royksopp dropped “Sordid Affair” we were instantly hooked. Those soft, majestic aural waves all throughout the track had us on another level. It is really an untouchable track for us. A few days ago Mixmag shared this new remix from Barcelona native Maceo Plex and we weren’t too sure how we were going to feel about it.
Once we hit play were hit with a solid and slow building beat. We were definitely glad he didn’t take it into a ridiculously over-the-top edm direction. Hints of the original melody make their way to the surface, but overall this reads as something completely fresh. The main ties to the original song are the haunting vocals that get a bit of a reverb effect. Deep, tech heavy, low end, synth laden and utterly lush. This is how you handle a Royksopp track folks!
