UK based Shall Not Fade blessed us with a thunderous remix from Computer Data for Earth Trax‘s “I’m Not Afraid” on Friday. The remix breathes a healthy dose of hypnotic house into the original, and leaves us with an uplifting and emotive message almost tailored for the times: “I’m Not Afraid”. Of course, while one should not give in to the panic of the current pandemic, it’s important to take it seriously and practice caution, since we, as the human race, are not invincible. The remix is part of a larger EP that also features remixes of the track from EJECA and 1-800 GIRLS. You can stream snippets of the the remixes below, with the Computer Data remix sandwiched between the other two.
‘Simplicity is the Ultimate Sophistication’ is the latest album to come from from French producer Matthieu Faubourg and it actually dropped at the end of last month. Its since acted as a great companion for us, for everything from practicing mindfulness, to driving long distances. Whether you’re simply working out at home, doing your daily yoga routine, or just want a soundtrack to keep you company and simmer in the background, while you read your favorite book, the ever changing arrangement of melodies should undoubtedly help keep you focused.
Truth be told we’ve been in the middle of a site redesign for the last few months. We weren’t planning on coming back until that happened, but we decided that since music is one of the few things everyone can enjoy from the comfort of their own homes during a time of social distancing, we didn’t want to take that from you. With that said, we wanted to make sure that our 2020 return was memorable and it looks like DJ Hoodboi made that possible for us. Sink your teeth into this masterfully crafted disco remix of Tame Impala‘s “Breathe Deeper”. If there’s a bassline that could save humanity from itself, we’re thinking this could very well could be it. So put your dancing shoes on and don’t be afraid to recreate that peak hour dance floor moment right in your living room, because after all, isn’t that what life’s about? Stay safe everyone. And well… musically informed. Maybe 2020 isn’t all bad.
Kraak & Smaak may seriously take the title for album of the year from us. The guys released ‘Pleasure Centre’ almost a month ago to the date and it hasn’t stopped playing since we hit the play button. It’s not often you get an album that’s back to back hits like this one. The album features an array of collaborations with vocalists across the spectrum but each is masterful, in not only retaining Kraak & Smaak’s vision, but in showing off their own flavor, and it’s all melded so perfectly. One of the stand out tracks is definitely “Sommeron” which displays the sort of laid -back-cool you’re eternally chasing. Check out the track for the hook, but entire album is an absolute music.

After a brief hiatus, we’re back to our regular programming. To kick things off, we’re shinning the spotlight on the debut album from Douze which dropped this past Friday. The new release from the Parisian producer is far from the first time hypnotized us (you can check out our premiere for his collab with Magnus “Out of My Head” here). This time, with just 8 tracks he’s managed to keep us enthralled from beginning to end. The standouts for us are “Remains” and “Red Led” which you can stream below, but you want to take the whole thing for a ride. We promise it’s work the effort.
Excuse us while we thoroughly enjoy this remix of Felix Cartal‘s “Over It.” The original showed up a couple months back and he just shared this “sunset mix” he did for the track a few days ago. Dare we say we’re enjoying it more than the original? The vocals are pitched down, the tempo and bass are given a boost and there’s these gorgeous pad progressions that have us weak at the knees. It’s uplifting, expansive, emotive and deep just the way we like it. He even made a rad video to accompany this version with behind-the-scenes footage from the “Over It” music video. More after the jump!
Holy Ghost! just dropped a new music video for their track “Heaven Knows What.” It’s lifted off their latest album, ‘Work,’ and it’s a total late night mood. It combines sultry melodies, dreamy vocals and sexy guitar licks. Like the video, the song carries this air of romantic melancholia. The video is a first person point of view with the main character reciting the lyrics with a pensive stare reminiscing on years gone by. Check it out after the jump!
Get ready to fall hard for this dreamy new single from Satin Jackets and Panama. They join creative forces to bring us this blissed out anthem called “Electric Blue.” It’s an instant classic for us. The melody and vocals melt in your ear and all you want to do is drive around at night with the top down and this track on repeat. Or also a brisk evening bike ride with headphones on full blast sounds like a great to enjoy this gem. We’re swooning over the hints of disco and melancholia. “Electric Blue” is out everywhere via Eskimo Recordings.
Alan Braxe is back with a promise of new music and more interaction on his social media pages. There’s a new EP brewing and slated for a Fall release. It’s called ‘The Ascent’ and he recently shared the first track off the EP simply called “Words.” It kicks off with beautiful synth chord progressions and then these ethereal harmonized vocals chime in to give it that extra bit of effervescence. The vocals hit like a spoken word filtered through a text-to-speech program. It’s uplifting and a great way to welcome the Fall season. Really looking forward to this EP!
Leave it to Final DJs to keep summer vibes going steady well into the second month of Fall. His latest single is a funky, sunny anthem sure to keep you warm into the winter months. As for the back story behind the song, Sebatsian appropriately tells us, “I am back with another funky sunlight driven voyage. It was a sunny day in spring when I was sitting in a bar. People passed by and [everyone] was in good mood. The sunlight touched my face and I had that melody in my mind. Later in the studio, I worked out more and more of the theme and ‘Feel The Heat’ was born.” The track is now available everywhere via Soave Records. Be sure to take it for a spin below.
