What So Not – “Gemini Ft. George Maple”

What-So-Not

Earlier this year it was announced that What So Not, the former duo composed of Flume and Emoh, was going to become a solo project for Emoh. The partnership didn’t end on bad terms, they are just going down separate paths. So for their last collaborative venture as What So Not the duo, they present the ‘Gemini’ EP which will see a release date sometime in the months to come. For now we can get a sense of the evolution of What So Not through the stellar lead track featuring flawless vocals from George Maple. Emoh mentioned in a recent interview:

“We feel like we tried to make it a little more mature. The concepts we were throwing around were more matured than things like ‘Jaguar’ and stuff like that. For me this EP is probably the most exciting thing I’ve worked on so far.”

And they definitely succeeded with this beautifully textured track. Stunning atmospheric builds paired with George Maple’s sultry voice are enough to make you weak at the knees. Then the drop into that bass and keyboard onslaught takes it to another level. They play very well with the levels in tempo. Overall a truly great way to begin the new direction for What So Not.
