TM404 – “Svreca Remixes”
Last January Swedish artist TM404 released a self-titled album that mixed grainy techno, hazy dub, and lush electronica in an emotive, low BPM stew that went sadly overlooked. A year and a half later, Juno Plus has previewed five remixes from Spanish-born DJ Svreca that further explore TM404’s dusty sounds. The five samples clock in at a little over eleven minutes but hint at much longer rhythmic cuts. The Swede’s granular textures have been stretched out, placed beneath straightforward and thumping drums, and wound into tight rhythms that brush against both techno and house. Sometimes these minimal, futuristic tracks evoke Sandwell District’s more euphoric moments, but this fare seems darker and more austere than many contemporaries’. We look forward to hearing Svreca Remixes in its entirety, out September 14 on Kontra-Musik.
