Sam Smith – “Leave Your Lover (Motez Remix)”
Sam Smith certainly had a huge year with a killer album that dropped last summer. The music spoke for itself as it shot him to international fame. ‘In The Lonely Hour’ was one of the most popular albums of last year and his various live performances solidified his fan base because his voice is off the charts. The album had a slew of jams on jams that motivated Aussie producer Motez to put his own spin on his favorite track “Leave Your Lover.”
The subtle melancholia is still coursing through this rendition. A poignant piano melody and pitch altered vocals are layered on top of one another to create a lush vocal framework for the surging bass to work around. The sting of the lyrical content is sharp, but the urge to dance all the feelings away is strong. Motez does an excellent job of building on the raw emotion in the original. Stream it below.
