Röyksopp – “Sordid Affair”

Norway’s very own Röyksopp continue to drop hints here and there of their upcoming and highly anticipated album “The Inevitable End” which will see the light of day on November 11th. With this release also comes a wave of bittersweet emotions since this will be the final album the duo is going to release. Fortunately they will continue to make music, but just not in album format. And “The Inevitable End” is shaping up to be their best work thus far.

A little over a week ago, Röyksopp teamed up with Pitchfork to premiere the third single off the album titled “Sordid Affair.” The track carries a deliriously beautiful melody with a solid bassline, cosmic synths and sweeping vocals by Ryan James from Man Without Country. We are completely mesmerized by this haunting single. It’s a total testament to the skill that this duo has for creating lush and emotive electronic soundscapes. Here is what they had to say about “Sordid Affair”:

“A recollection and contemplation of the emotional aspects of the endeavours as described in the track title. The difficulties of letting go of emotional attachments – even those of a questionable nature.”

Dive into the cool and refreshing soundwaves of Röyksopp below. P.S- you can also stream the entire album over on Pitchfork now!
