Porter Robinson – “Years Of War (Golden Features Remix)”
Golden Features certainly has had a big year. When he released that debut EP earlier in the year his name was popping up all over the blogosphere. Once we heard his music our radar lit up and we knew we had one-to-watch on our hands. His remixing prowess provides a fresh new take on Porter Robinson‘s “Years Of War.”
What starts off as a seemingly innocent track quickly breaks down into a haunting and deep tech house serenade. The original is a slow and easy listen that is slightly tech tinged and more approachable. The Golden Features version takes things in a darker direction while still making excellent use of the angelic vocals. Elements of the original are still present and manage to break the surface here and there, but are quickly absorbed by the cold and mechanical tech onslaught. It is groovy enough to light up the dance floor at a warehouse party and chill enough for a bike ride.
