Clarian North – “Dystopia”

Clarian North

Today we’re excited to share the powerful, cynically-titled house track “Dystopia” by Clarian North, who we’ve followed for quite some time. This expansive, nearly eight-minute long cut showcases his knack for constructing trim grooves and exploring meditative, exotic sounds. Loose drums and warm bass establish an inviting rhythm, but a minute and a half later a modal trumpet melody towers over the mix and transports the listener to a different head-space entirely. The rest is dark, introspective house tinged with the exotic (Clarian North did hashtag it “multi culti desert apocalypse” after all) that contains a multitude of details worthy of dissection. Appreciate the percolating synths four minutes in, the broad pads that guide the listener on a tour of desiccated landscapes and empty spaces, and the syncopating horn chatter that swells and recedes as the track winds down.
