Chet Faker – “I’m Into You (The Septembers Rework)”

The-Septembers-Chet-Faker-Rework

A couple of days ago we were turned onto the trail of a deep and soulful duo going by the moniker The Septembers. The duo consists of South African songbird and songwriter Donna Arendse and producer James Chatburn. Check out the story behind the moniker:

“Inspired by the legacy of Donna’s great aunt, South African anti-apartheid political activist Dulcie September, the name originates from Donna’s grandmothers’ maiden name, September.”

And much like the thought put into their name, The Septembers provide some lush, soulful (and at times seductive) music that is not easily forgotten. This Chet Faker cover/rework includes some more prominent and exquisite jazzy bits with a slow burning beat and ultra smooth bassline that are really reminiscent of Erykah Badu’s blend of hip-hop and R&B. Close your eyes, sit back and drift into another realm of pure aural bliss. Enjoy.
