Blood Orange – “Holy Will (Slackin’ Beats Edit)”
Dev Hynes’ new album as Blood Orange has been making its rounds on the blogosphere getting some much deserved recognition. He delves into the hardships and comforts of living as a marginalized person in this current political climate, but ultimately coming out with uplifting and inspirational messages. With “Holy Will” he brings it back to ideas of religion by tapping into gospel from the Clark Sisters and mentions in an interview with Pitchfork that the song is “like church on Sunday after going out Saturday. It’s the cleanse.” Recently, Swedish producer Slackin’ Beats served up a quick edit for the track that is perfect for that late night wind down or early morning pick-me-up.
