Beshken – “Right Time (feat. Soraya)”
Sultry and soulful are the first words that come to mind upon first hearing this slow burning groove from Santa Monica based talent Beshken, a.k.a Ben Shirken. Among his many influences you will find Shlohmo, Flying Lotus and Allure which seems about right given the melody on this track. Echoing synths introduce the mesmerizing vocals from fellow L.A native, Soraya, that are met with a swinging bassline carefully and subtly drifting in between poignant chords. It is sultry and soulful, but it is also sleek, seductive, hypnotic, melancholic and it still carries a beat with enough oomph to get you off your seats. It’s music like this that has us beaming with pride knowing it comes from sunny L.A.
