Alex Flat – “Deep Afterhour Nr. 160”
Flat, or Alex Flat (depending on whose soundcloud account you reference), brings a subtly crafted minimal house mix for Deep Afterhour. Filled with quiet, warbling vocals, murmuring percussion, and fidgety bass, this relaxing mix is perfect for lounging around, zoning out, or going to sleep. But those traits don’t make it boring—quite the opposite, in my opinion. Turn up the volume, and there are plenty of absorbing sonic details: vocal runs that initially appear nonsensical are given shape and tone as the songs overlap and segue; Flat’s lush ambient palette contains subtle polyrhythms that are surprisingly body-oriented. Spend some time with it and this mix will worm its way into your head. We hope to hear more soon from the mysterious Russian producer, and many thanks to Deep Afterhour for the lovely (free) mix.
